REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration Acquire Licensing RightsMUMBAI, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Tech investor Prosus NV (PRX.AS) said on Wednesday it was valuing Indian education firm Byju's at under $3 billion, 86% less than its peak valuation of $22 billion last year, after the company struggled with governance and cash-flow problems. The disclosure, made by interim CEO Ervin Tu during Prosus earnings call, is the latest cut to Byju's valuation after several executives and board members quit and it delayed filing its 2021/22 financial results by a year. Over the past year, shareholders including Prosus and Blackrock have successively cut Byju's valuation to $11 billion in March, $8 billion in May and $5 billion in June. It has delayed publishing its financial results, prompting auditor Deloitte and three board members quit in June. Byju's filed the delayed but incomplete financial results earlier this month, and is looking to sell off entire business lines to raise cash.

One-litre bottles of extra-virgin olive oil are selling for as much as 14.5 euros ($15.77) in some supermarkets, propelling olive oil into the category of products retailers fit with security tags, alongside spirits, cosmetics and appliances. "Olive oil has become an ideal product for them to steal." STC, a Spanish company providing anti-theft solutions to retailers, saw a 12-fold increase in orders this summer from supermarkets for devices to protect olive oil bottles, managing partner Salvador Canones told Reuters. Spanish police have also uncovered thefts of olive oil from mills and in October arrested two people as part of an investigation into the theft of 56 tonnes of extra virgin olive oil. Among the world's biggest consumers of olive oil, they have already significantly cut back: sales volumes of extra-virgin olive oil fell by 17% in the 12 months to September, according to NielsenIQ.

The Southeast Asian electronics manufacturing hub already hosts U.S. giant Intel's (INTC.O) largest semiconductor packaging and testing plant worldwide and is home to several chip designing software firms. It is working on a strategy to attract more semiconductor investment, including from foundries, which focus on manufacturing chips. Meetings with half a dozen U.S. chip firms took place in recent weeks, including with fab operators, Vu Tu Thanh, head of the Vietnam office of the US-ASEAN Business Council, told Reuters. He declined to identify the firms because talks were still at a preliminary stage. John Neuffer, President of the U.S. Semiconductor Industry Association, at the same conference recommended the government focus on chip sectors where Vietnam was already strong, such as assembling, packaging and testing.

Americans in their 20s think they'll need around $1.2 million on average to retire comfortably, according to Northwestern Mutual's "2023 Planning and Progress Study." But stashing your money in a traditional savings account probably won't get you there by the time you hit retirement age because your money won't grow fast enough. However, retirement investment accounts typically earn a much higher rate of return than a traditional savings account, so your money grows faster when interest is compounded. On the other hand, you'd have significantly less if you put that money into a traditional savings account, which generally earn returns less than 1%, per the FDIC's data. If you put that same $100 into a regular savings account, you'd only have around $66,300 by the time you turn 65, per CNBC's calculations.
